Inger-Lena Lamm studied physics at Lund Institute of Technology - Lund University, resulting in a PhD degree in mathematical physics (thesis “Theoretical studies of some equilibrium properties of stably deformed nuclei”). Simultaneously she got involved in medical applications, especially radiation physics, and is since mid-1970 active at the department of Radiation physics, Lund University Hospital, radiation therapy section. She was responsible for the introduction of CT-based treatment planning and for the clinical implementation of the first 3D treatment planning system in Lund. She is now responsible for all brachytherapy activities, esp. development of new HDR and PDR treatments. Inger-Lena Lamm is involved in several professional and scientific organisations, with education and training as a special area of interest. She was President of EFOMP 2000-2002, European Federation of Organisations in Medical Physics, and before that she was chairman of the EFOMP Education, Training and Professional Committee. Further activities: Past President of the Swedish Hospital Physicist Association, Vice President of the Swedish Association of Scientists, and involvement in IOMP, IUPESM, IEC and SEK. Inger-Lena Lamm was one of the project leaders of the Nordic CART (Computer Aided RadioTherapy) and she was the Swedish project leader of the EU Leonardo da Vinci projects EMERALD “European Medical Radiation Learning Development” and EMIT “European Medical Imaging Technology Training”.
